Sustainable CSR by FAP Agri: Broiler Chicken Farming for the Community of Desa Bebanas, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan

As part of our commitment to implementing sustainable business principles, we fully support local communities and work together to develop their economic potential through the Income Generating Activity (IGA) program. IGA is an economic empowerment program that arises from the aspirations and potential of village communities, fully supported by the company. We continuously encourage communities to improve their economic quality by providing business capital in the form of equipment, training, and ongoing assistance.

We collaborate with several experts and practitioners in the field, including PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPI), a specialist in broiler chicken farming. The company has engaged CPI to provide ongoing support to the community of Desa Bebanas, Sebuku District, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Province, to help develop their village’s potential. Training and continuous assistance, as well as the provision of business capital in the form of equipment, took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7 and 8, 2024.

The training was designed to teach the Broiler Chicken Farming Group about broiler feed, vaccination, diseases and medications for broiler chickens, as well as surveying suitable locations for constructing chicken coops. The training was met with high enthusiasm from 14 members of the Broiler Chicken Farming Group in Desa Bebanas. With the IGA program, it is hoped that the community of Desa Bebanas will experience positive impacts, improve welfare, and encourage economic independence beyond palm oil. Moving forward, FAP Agri will continue to collaborate with nearby villages on similar economic empowerment programs that leverage the aspirations and potential of each village for a more self-reliant economic life.
