Waste Management

This is our approach to waste management, where clean production is ensured through waste reduction by optimally utilizing the resulting waste.

In addition to preventing environmental pollution, efforts to utilize waste generated from the palm oil production process are carried out to support the creation of environmental aspects by considering economic feasibility and acceptable to the community in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

WASTE MANAGEMENT WITH REUSE, REDUCE AND RECYCLE APPROACH.

We also utilize some of the solid and liquid waste generated to support plantation cultivation and the palm oil production process in processing factories.

Hazardous and toxic waste (B3) generated by the production process in oil palm plantations consists of liquid waste such as used lubricants and solid waste such as: used pesticide containers, used TL lamps (Tubular Lamp), used batteries and used cloth rags. FAP Agri provides Temporary Storage Places (TPS) to accommodate B3 waste that has received permission from the government.

The transportation of B3 waste is carried out by a transporter who has a permit from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Ministry of Transportation. All B3 waste is absorbed by a user / collector who has a permit from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Land Application

The processing of FFB (Tandah Buah Segar) into CPO (Crude Palm Oil) at the Palm Oil Mill (PKS) produces solid waste, in the form of empty baskets, and liquid waste. Palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) contains essential nutrients for plant growth and production such as N, P, K, Ca and Mg in significant concentrations. Therefore, LCPKS with certain BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) can be used as a substitute and / or supplement for fertilizer and irrigation water in oil palm plantation land which is already in the producing stage. The use of LCPKS is known as the Land Application.

All Palm Oil Processing Plants owned by FAP Agri have implemented their liquid waste treatment using the Land Application method which is in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This is in line with the environmental management policy to apply the concept of clean technology or clean production to the maximum extent possible, towards zero emission as well as the 3R (Reuse, Recycle and Recovery) concept in waste management in all activities that have the potential to cause negative impacts on the environment.
